Movies, Movies and More Movies
My kids are huge movie fans. Wait, scratch that. My LITTLE kids are huge movie fans. For some reason, my older ones don’t really enjoy them. But my younger kids could - and would - watch movies all day long, segue into the evening, and dream about movies at night. We own five dvd players (I can’t believe that I just typed that - I’m stunned) and three vcrs. We have a dvd player in the van.
For this reason, we own a ton of dvds and vhs tapes. Periodically, I feel as if I’m drowning in movies. I pull them all out of the cabinets, the drawers, under the sofa and in the storage console in the van. I match the orphan movie discs to the empty cases and then circulate them. The ones in the van tend to be in heavy rotation, so they make their way into the house and then I bring out new ones to keep them occupied while waiting for siblings at soccer or track or scouts or choir.
Sometimes, though, I realize that a movie has lived with us just a bit too long. We’ve outgrown The Wiggles, Bob the Builder and the Kids Love Spanish sets. It’s time to list them on Zwaggle and send them on their way to another, more deserving family, one who won’t pass them up for Mary Poppins and Hannah Montana. Not to mention High School Musical. Must.not.forget.that.one.
I’ve held on to these movies for a long time - I’ve been so busy that I didn’t want to take time to list them. Last night, I bit the bullet and marked out an hour to just get it done. You know what? It didn’t really take that long, and it was much easier than I thought. Why don’t you give it a try? I’ll bet you have movies laying around that your kids no longer watch. With any luck, you can trade that copy of Barney for a newer selection.
Like High School Musical II. Has anyone around here heard of that movie?
