BOO!

Hey, this week was the Autumnal Equinox. The day that is equally split in half, day and night. The day when the nights start becoming longer than the days, and more time in pajamas for me. Ummmmm, warm pj’s, tucked into bed with a good book and some chocolate chip cookies.

Sorry. I got sidetracked there.

The first day of fall always makes me think of Halloween, which is not that far off - just over a month. That’s a crazy short amount of time to try to persuade your kids that no, they aren’t going to go trick or treating as a hobo or a ghost, and maybe a three horned devil could be cut from the line up as well. In the past, we’ve sent out an iPod, numerous fairies, clowns, beauty queens, kitty cats, leopards, lions, dogs, Star Wars characters both male and female, pirates and Marvel Comic book heroes galore. And heaven forbid that anyone wear the same costume twice, or for that matter the same costume as a sibling. Must be new, different, and above all, original. Did I forget to say “cool” as well?

I think many of us are in the same boat - kids with wild imaginations and great ideas for costumes, who want to be NEW and DIFFERENT and CREATIVE. Well, those things are great, but they are no match for my code word of the day - BROKE. I’ve got Halloween costumes in spades, though - I’m going to list them this week here on Zwaggle. I’ll bet if we all looked through the attics and basements, we could outfit the entire spectrum of kids in costumes that will amaze and delight them. Not to mention that, by listing and trading, you could be working yourself closer to a new Nintendo Wii or win a 200 Zoint spending spree.

Think about it. Solving Halloween AND Christmas by trading costumes. It’s a beautiful system, and it leaves more time for pjs and cookies.  Bliss for all.
